About the Dover School
The Dover School is a rural pre-kindergarten through 6th grade public school serving the students of Dover Vermont as well as some surrounding towns. Located at the summit of Dover Hill Road, we offer a progressive, contemporary education based on the Vermont Early Learning Standards, the Common Core State Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, Vermont's Grade Expectations, The National Health and Physical Education Standards, the ISTE National Technology Standards, and more. Teachers design custom curriculum to meet their students' needs while addressing the national standards mentioned above. The Dover School has consistently performed well by all measures of state and national testing and is committed to preparing children for their next educational journey, wherever that may take them. Dover residents enjoy "School Choice" and, following graduation from the Dover School, families may choose from several middle and high schools in the area. Since 2013 Dover School staff and administration have been preparing to become authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. In May of 2018 the school board was informed that The Dover School was authorized as an IB World School, the first public school in Vermont, and the only Primary Years Program! See our IB page for more information. |
